>> Hi. I'm David Carnoy, Executive Editor for CNET.com and I'm here with the Creative Vado HD. This is a mini camcorder that captures 720p video. However, we wouldn't classify this as a true HD camcorder, but it does capture high resolution video and this could pitch directly with the Flip Video Mino HD in the Kodak Zi6. This might look very similar to the original Vado, but it isn't identical. The lens does extend a little bit out and there's some small differences. The controls however are in the same spot on the back. This model comes with 8-gigabytes built-in memory that allows you to store about two hours of high definition video. Also you can capture SD video with this camcorder. There are two video outputs on this, this actually comes with an HDMI output, it's a mini HDMI connector and it also has output for standard composite cables. Like all of these mini camcorders, this one has a flip out USB connector. It's on the bottom right next to the threaded tripod mount so you can't put this on a tripod. As far as that video quality goes we didn't think it was quiet as good as the Mino HD, but it's pretty close. This also has a little bit more difficulty adjusting for difficult exposures in backlighting, but all in all we are pretty impressed with the video. The software that comes with this mini camcorder is more robust than what came with the previous model. Like with all of these models you can upload your video directly to YouTube. It now comes with a sort of silicon sheet that goes over the top. it's also worth pointing out that the Vado HD has a larger LCD than the Mino HD and it's also has a removable lithium ion battery, which means you can carry a spare around with you if you want. Overall, we're pretty impressed with the improvements that Creative has made to its Vado line. This is now much more of a competitor, a more direct competitor to the Mino HD. It's slightly less expensive. The video quality might not just quite measure up to that of the Mino HD, but it's close enough that it becomes a hard decision for people trying to decide between a better feature set and slightly better image quality. I'm David Carnoy and that's the Creative Vado HD mini camcorder. ^M00:02:18 [ Music ]

Creative Vado HD Review
The good: Solid 720p video; ultraslim design; removable, rechargeable battery; easy to use; one-touch video uploading to YouTube and Photobucket; includes mini HDMI connector and bundled cable for outputting 1080i video to an HDTV.
The bad: No flash-memory slot; Mac users have to manually copy video files to their computers; white balance is slightly off and colors are a bit amped.
The bottom line: The Creative Vado HD may fall slightly short of the Flip Video Mino HD in terms of video quality, but it's stronger feature set may tempt you.
