Create a power-line connection with Actiontec 500Mbps kit Video Transcript
Hi guys, it's Dong Ngo here. You have problem at home with your wife, well good luck on that, buddy. But if your problem is your WiFi network, I have something here that might help, and that's going powerline networking such as this Actiontec 500 megabytes per second Powerline Adapter Kit right here. Now, this kit always come with 2 separate adapter. And that's because you need 2 adapter to create the very first powerline connection. Here's how powerline works. You take the first adapter and connect it to the router of your net- home network. Like this. Okay. And take a second to connect to a network device such as a computer or a printer. After that, just practice 2 adapter in 2 separate room socket and that's it. You have just connected the network device into your home network. Basically, the powerline adapter turn your home's electrical wiring into a network cable. There's many powerline kits and powerline adapter on the market, but the Actiontec Kit right here is very good because it come with 2 very small adapter. Actually, probably the smallest I've ever seen. Be aware that you have to plug the powerline adapter directly into a wall socket for it to work well and it might not work at all if you plug it into a power strip or a short protector. On the side here, next to the network port you can see there's a security button. Pressing of this button on each unit within 2 minutes of one another would create a security powerline connection between them. That is necessary if you use them in an apartment and try to keep other from tapping into your home network by using another adapter in the apartment. The best thing about this Actiontec Kit here is the price. It costs just $50 with 2 adapter included. That is less than many other single adapter on the market. For more information, check out the in depth review at CNET.com or you can send me question via Twitter or Facebook. Once again, my name is Dong Ngo and this has been a quick how to on powerline networking with the Actiontec 500 megabytes per second Powerline Adapter Kit.

Actiontec 500 Mbps Powerline Network Adapter Kit Review
The good: The Actiontec 500 Mbps Powerline Kit (PWR511K01) is compact and affordable, and offers good performance.
The bad: The Actiontec PWR511K01 kit's included adapters don't support Gigabit Ethernet, nor do they have a pass-through power socket.
The bottom line: While not perfect, the Actiontec PWR511K01 for now offers the best value among power-line adapter kits on the market.
