Control your Firefox tab-switching Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Molly Wood from CNET.com with a Quick Tip on how to control the way you switch through Firefox tabs. Now, first, you have to know that you can press Control-Tab to switch through open tabs in the Firefox browser. See how that works? Nice, right? I use this ALL the time. But in the Firefox 3.1 beta, there?s a new visual tab-switching ?feature.? Now, personally, I?m not a fan of this ?feature.? It slows me down, and instead of scrolling through the tabs from left to right, like you?d expect, it scrolls through them in the order of the most recently used. ANNOYING. So, here?s how to take back control of your tabs, and thanks to my Twitter friend nomaded for pointing out the answer. First, type in about:config in your Firefox URL bar. Then, in the Filter bar, type ctrlTab (or just ctrl) to filter down to the results you want. Now, you?ll see these two features: browser.ctrlTab.mostRecentlyUsed browser.ctrlTab.smoothScroll Now, if you LIKE the graphical tab-switching, but you want the order to go left-to-right, right-click the mostRecentlyUsed line and choose Toggle, to set the value from True to False. If you want to get rid of the feature completely, Toggle the smoothScroll value to False, as well. Now, restart your browser, and off you go! Sometimes change just ? isn?t what you?re after. I'm Molly Wood for CNET.com, and you?re welcome.
