>> It's said that half of the digital photographer's skills is the editing. If that's true then ColorSplash for iPhone can certainly make your images more eye catching at the very least. I'm Jessica Dolcourt taking a first look now at ColorSplash for iPhone and iPod Touch. ColorSplash is a neat photo editing app of medium complexity that lets you use just a swatch of color to emphasize an object in your grayscale photo. You'll be able to take a new photo from within the app to get started or you can load an image from your iPhone's camera roll. The app converts your photo into grayscale, so you can experiment with letting the color back in. The controls may look a little complicated, but the program's excellent help menu explains it all. You can access that at anytime by pressing the question mark on the screen. To let the color free just swipe your finger anywhere on the screen. You'll be able to pinch and pull the image to zoom in and can tap with two fingers to pan to a different portion of the picture. If you mess up, there's endless undo with the back arrow button. Instead of clicking undo endlessly, you can also switch over to the gray view to paint over the color with more gray. The best way to accurately color in a section of an image is to zoom in to the pixel level. If you can't quite see where you're painting, switching over to the red mode shows your brush strokes in crimson. When you're done you'll be able to save your finished masterpiece in the camera roll, but you can also save your session to come back to later in case you get interrupted. By pressing the paragraph icon you'll also be able to start a new session or load one that's already in progress. This is a really cool app that let's you get creative with your results. While it gives you some options with the transparency of brush strokes multiple paint brush sizes are what we'd really like to see. ColorSplash can be yours for a $1.99.
