>> Hi I'm Jasmine France, associate editor for CNET.com. And I'm here today with the Kobe MPC 7000 series. Now this player looks unassuming enough, it's actually kind of cute. But when you turn it on, you'll be greeted with one of the most horrible players I've ever come across. We'll first go over kind of the controls and look. It's kind of cute, it's got a little Mac and you know, Nano look going for it. It actually has an on off switch, which is a little unusual, not really a bad thing. But it's just, we haven't seen a mechanical switch like that in an MP3 player for a while. It has an array of buttons on the front here, this is kind of where the trouble starts. These buttons are [inaudible], play pause in the middle. Now the main problem with the keypad is that it's pretty unresponsive. The other problem is that it's a little confusing how you adjust the volume, and how you access the menus, and what menu it takes you into, depending on whether you're play, paused, or stopped. This player has plenty of features, however it's kind of hard to use them all because of the buttons, and because of how unresponsive they are. It does play back music, video, and has a voice recorder, [inaudible], everything, and even the screen is quite nice and colorful, and the top menu is quite nice. But as for navigating music that's another problem point. There's no easy way to get into the navigation or sort by artist, album genre, etcetera. And the final blow kind of here is, is the audio output. First of all you have a two point five millimeter headphone jack, which is what you see in most cell phones. [ background music ] Kind of hard to find a matching stereo headset for a two point five jack. But the audio quality is quite poor anyway, so you probably won't even care. Anyway, this got a two point three on CNET. It is quite cheap. You can get a one gigabyte version for sixty dollars, but I don't recommend it. I'm Jasmine France, and this has been the Kobe MPC 7000 series. ^M00:01:51 [ music ]
