>> Welcome to CNET Top 5 where each time we meet we count down another hot CNET list, I'm Tom Merritt. It's been about a month since the end of 2007, just enough time for Download.com's Peter Butler and Mark Sykes to shake off that lingering after taste of all the horrible software they're confronted with each year. However, they were kind enough to put on their Hepa Masks one more time and comb through the dust vent of downloads to bring us the worst of 2007. Let's count 'em down. At number 5, Healing Stress, the combo of wild flowers and emotionless music, may raise an eyebrow but don't appear to do anything about stress. This thing could be the deadly new medium in the ring 3. Watch it at your own risk. Coming into number 4, Digit Whiz. You know that use less translates into 8735377 and no this program won't convert your phone number into digits, just the other way around. Bonus--it's a front for an off-brand long distance operator. Up to number 3, the good old headaches browser. On the plus side it has 21 tips it says will cure your headache. On the negative side it's a crippled browser without an address bar and guesses what? My current browser searches web MD and has an address bar. You know what gives me a headache? Uselessness. Sliding into number 2, the USA Green Card Lottery Simulator. This one just makes me angry. It's an offensive, pointless and misleading game that implies the green card lottery costs money. That's a lie. The lottery is free--delete it. Before we get to number 1, let's check in on the downloads that bubbled under the top 5; the soda tracker is so close to being useful but it's not. All right let's get to our number 1; the worst download of the year as determined by the download analysis of Butler and Sykes. At number 1 it's the Kevin Federline toolbar; even more useless now than when it first appeared on the top five worst list earlier in the year. Mr. Federline would like you to use his toolbar to do web searches. Why? You can win prizes but Kevin can't win back his dignity at least not with a toolbar or any bar for that matter.
