CNET Top 5: Reasons to love the iPhone 3G Video Transcript

Welcome to CNET Top 5, where each time we meet we count down another hot CNET list. I'm Tom Merritt. The iPhone 3G has Apple fanatics rolling on the floor and speaking in tongues. Almost. But if you still need a reason to fall for the latest version of the iPhone, we can help you out. Let's count down the Top 5 reasons to love the iPhone 3G. At No. 5, It's cheaper! Apple's line is that you get twice the speed at half the price. Granted you still need a contract with a service provider and those costs can mount up, but that's for tomorrow. Today, you're saving money! Coming in at No. 4, support for Microsoft Exchange. Which means millions of workers can get their work e-mail easily on their cell phone. If you don't use exchange, not a big deal. But those who do are riding high! Up to No. 3, applications, especially the games. No more jailbreaking necessary. The App Store will let you go legit and play games such as Spore and Monkey Ball too! Sliding in at No. 2. 3G! No more painfully slow EDGE network, oh no. If you're in a city with 3G coverage, you'll get the real deal high- speed 3G surfing experience. Wow. It won't take me 10 minutes to load Twitter anymore. Except when it's down. But, oh no my friends, 3G is not the No. 1 reason! Before we get to No. 1, let's check in on the good reasons to love the iPhone 3G that didn't quite make the top. All right. Let's get to our No. 1. If it's not faster speed or low cost what could it be? The No. 1 reason to love the iPhone is... GPS. And we don't mean that silly cellular triangulation stuff, we mean a real honest-to-geopositioning satellite GPS chip that can track your position on a map and give you directions from exactly where you are. Now, the iPhone can legitimately replace an iPod, a phone, a mobile browser, and a navigation device. Admit it. You're in love. Well That's it for this edition of CNET Top 5. If all this love makes you sick, Be sure to catch our Top 5 reasons to hate the iPhone 3G to balance things out. I'm Tom Merritt. See you next time.
