Welcome to CNET Top 5, where each time we meet we count down another hot CNET list. I'm Tom Merritt. This time we psychoanalyze you. At No. 5, Google. Ironic isn't it, as Google is in itself a search engine. But be it 700MHZ spectrum, or WiMax or who knows what, those Google folks are always up to something. Everything but evil that is. Coming in at No. 4, Apple. Lately they've been in the news for what they haven't done. They haven't sued Psystar. They haven't announced an iPhone. PR people take note. Stop having your companies do stuff! Up to No. 3, Yahoo. Ah yes, the little mater of the courtship of Yahoo and Microsoft certainly garnered much attention. Meaning that you can certainly guess search term No. 2. Sliding in at No. 2. Oh look at that, Microsoft. The company that didn't buy Yahoo. Too bad for the news hawks that this whole thing is over...or is it? What could possibly be bigger than Microhoo? Before we get to that, let's check in on the Top 5 search terms from Download.com. All right. Let's get to it. The No. 1 most popular search term. Of more interest to CNET searchers than Microsoft Yahoo. At No. 1, It's.... iPhone. As we barrel on toward June, the rumors of a 3G iPhone are coming fast and furious. And in the wake of those credible rumors come the crazy ones in droves as well. Depending on what you read, the new iPhone will be able to change diapers, heal small wounds, and bake a lovely pancetta in a white wine reduction. Well That's it for this edition of CNET Top 5. If you want to participate in what makes the list Search, check out News.com. I'm Tom Merritt. See you next time.
