Clear Spot Voyager Video Transcript

Hello. My name is Dong Ngo for Cnet.com and this is the Clear Spot Voyager. This (highly?) device here is actually very powerful. It offers to access the internet to up to 8 wifi devices and this is a 4G only hotspot, meaning that it works only with the 4G network of Clear. If you go out of the coverage area, it is useless. On the side here, you can see that it was a power button and a 3 LED light that shows the status of the device. Now this is where I have different colors. For example, the power light here is amber, meaning that the battery is about 80% to more than 20%. If it's red, it means it's only less than 20% less and it should charge the device soon. And it's still green light here. The solid green means that you have a wifi device connected to the router here and the other light means that you have 4G connection. When placing to a computer, apart from charging, the router here would also work as a 4G modem for the computer. The Clear Spot Voyager comes with a built in non replaceable battery that gives you about 6 hours of battery life. Actually, in my testing, it offer about 7 hours. The device doesn't seem to go into sleep mode when there's no wifi device connected to it. So the only way you can save life is to turn it off when you do don't use it. And the best thing about this mobile hotspot is it comes with unlimited data plan that starts at $35 per month. The device itself cost about $125 without a contract. That makes it a very good deal among all mobile hotspots on the market

Clear Spot Voyager Review

The good: The tiny Clear Spot Voyager can provide Internet access to up to eight Wi-Fi devices at a time with fast 4G connection speeds, has good battery life, and comes with affordable unlimited data plans. The device immediately works as an Internet source when connected to a non-Wi-Fi computer.

The bad: The Clear Spot Voyager doesn't support 3G, Wireless-N, text messaging, and doesn't have a clear battery life gauge. The mobile hot spot doesn't go into sleep mode, so the battery runs down relatively fast even when there are no connected clients.

The bottom line: Supercompact, affordable, and with fast performance, the Clear Spot Voyager would be a great mobile hot-spot device for those who live and travel within Clear's 4G coverage.
