>> Hi. I'm Kent German, senior editor at CNET.com. Today we're gonna take a first look at a new phone for Seniors. It's called Clarity, Clarity Life. Clarity's the company, and then Clarity Life is the name of the phone. It is a phone designed for people that haven't used a cell phone before, that may be a little older, so that -- may have some visual impairment. So really designed around simplicity of use. You can see it's pretty big. It's pretty weighty as well. It doesn't really fit in a pocket, really more something your mom might maybe carry in a bag or -- It is a slider design. It slides right up like that. I've seen other simple phones like this without any actual keys, so it's nice to see those keys there. Keys are very big, and see, they have big letters on them. The keypad is all plastic, felt like just a tiny bit cheap overall. You do have an emergency button here on the back. It's very large. It's also recessed, so you not gonna press it accidentally. When you open up the phone, you go to the menus. I found that the menus were okay, but they could be a little easier to understand in some cases, I think. You do have menus when the phone is closed, but these are a little differently designed than when the phone was open, which I thought was very odd. And there even more -- I mean, I even had a hard time using these, just kind of understanding what all of them meant. There are a lot of things -- there's some things on here like a birthday reminder, even text messaging. Text messaging, I found a little odd. I didn't know lot of people would use that. But I guess it's nice if you have the option there. Have a few interesting features on the top. Power button right here, and you actually have a flashlight, if you hold down that flashlight button, you can see that you can turn it on. So overall, it is an interesting phone. It would appeal to someone who just hasn't used a cell phone before, and really wants something that's simple design. But like I said, I feel that the menus and the user interface, the easability, could just be a little slimmed down, a little trimmer in a lot of ways. I'm Kent German, and this is the Clarity Life. ^M00:01:38
