>> Hi, I'm Lori Grunin, Senior editor with CNET.com and this is the Canon Vixia HF100. The HF100 and it's brother the HF10 look like they're gonna be the hot flash-based HD camcorders for 2008. They're pretty much the same camcorder. They only differ in two ways from each other. One is that the HF100 doesn't have built-in flash memory. It just uses an SDHC card and the other is in the color. The HF10 is black and the HF100 is sort of a matte silver gray. Otherwise, it's the same camcorder. It takes very good video and has a very nice feature set for its class. It has a 12X zoom lens compared to the 10X for most of the other cameras in its class. And it has lots of Canon signature features, like the SuperRange optical image stabilizer, which works very well. It also doesn't skimp on other features, for instance, it includes a headphone and a microphone jack, which lots of manufacturers are dumping on the consumer camcorders. The battery is fleshed with the body. If you do need an extra capacity battery, Canon does offer one, however it's black. Just like the HF10. So it won't look quite as nice and it will probably stick out further, so you wanna think about that before committing to which design you want. It's got the electronic lens cover, sliding doors for the media and it's got a new mini-sized accessory-ship. So, if you have existing Canon accessories, they're not gonna work with this model. Overall, it's a very well thought out model that just performs really well and produces really great videos. I'm Lori Grunin and this is the Canon Vixia HF100. ^M00:01:42 [ Music ]
