>> Hi. I'm Josh Goldman, senior editor for CNET Reviews, and this is the Canon PowerShot Sx200 IS. It's a 12-megapixel camera featuring a wide angle lens with a long 12X zoom. But it still has a reasonably compact body. It's main competitor is the Panasonic Lumix-ZS3, which has many of the same hardware features, though it doesn't have the Sx200's manual control options, such as shutter speed priority and aperture priority. The design is much more attractive than Canon's previous pocketable mega-zooms, but it's not perfect. For example, the flash automatically raises from the left side, and there's not way to put it back down. Also, the dime-sized mode dial on top has a few too many options crammed onto it, so the icons are really small. Shooting performance is reasonably good for a mega-zoom camera, but we've learned not to expect blazing speed from these. The photo quality is very good, too, in particular, its great color. A slim, stylish body; a wide-angle lens; very good photo quality; and snappy performance make the Canon PowerShot SD800 IS a great point-and-shoot.
A nice evolution of the megazoom, the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS delivers some improvements over its predecessor and provides an attractive option for megazoom shooters.

The good: Compact body with wide-angle lens with 12x zoom; manual controls; very good photo and video quality for its class.
The bad: Mixed performance; no optical zoom in Movie mode.
The bottom line: More than just a point-and-shoot pocket megazoom, the Canon SX200 IS improves upon its forerunner, but not by much.
