>> Hi, I'm Molly Wood from CNET.com here at PMA 2009. I'm taking a First Look at the Canon PowerShot SX200 IS. Now you can see that this is a fairly compact digital camera. It's not the biggest or the smallest, but it is a 12-megapixel camera with a 12x optical zoom. So, this form factor compared to some other cameras we've seen even here at PMA is actually fairly sleek, which is nice. Now again, it does have the ultra zoom which is kind of a trend here at PMA this year. And then one cool thing it has here is a pop-up flash. Now, Canon says this actually helps reduce red eye because it keeps the flash a little bit farther away from the lens. Frankly, I think that it just looks kind of old school and I like that. It has some other nice features including HD movie capture, which is a nice touch at this price point. Also face detection and optical image stabilization all of the things that you would expect in a camera of its class. This should be available sometime in March 2009 for $349. For CNET.com, I'm Molly Wood and this has been a First Look at the Canon PowerShot SX200 IS. ^M00:01:06 [ Music ]

A very good compact camera, the 10-megapixel Canon PowerShot SD900 nonetheless falls short of its faster, more full-featured, albeit lower-resolution competitors.
The Canon PowerShot SD1000 is a great choice for a compact camera because of its small size, excellent image quality, and solid, though not extensive, feature set.
The Canon PowerShot A410 is the PowerShot A400 with a new body and a slightly longer zoom.
This 4-megapixel Canon PowerShot S410 pocket camera offers few manual controls or special features but delivers solid image quality and performance.
The PowerShot A580 features nearly identical hardware as the A590, but with a slimmed-down feature set. It keeps the same 8-megapixel resolution and 4x optical zoom lens as the A590 IS, but forgoes the optical stabilization system and accessory lens compatibility. Worse yet for skilled users, it lacks the A590 IS' manual exposure controls.
Canon PowerShot SX200 IS (red) Review
The good: Compact body with wide-angle lens with 12x zoom; manual controls; very good photo and video quality for its class.
The bad: Mixed performance; no optical zoom in Movie mode.
The bottom line: More than just a point-and-shoot pocket megazoom, the Canon SX200 IS improves upon its forerunner, but not by much.
