>> Hi, I'm Josh Goldman senior editor for CNET Reviews, and this is the Cannon Powershot SD960 IS. It's a follow up of sorts to the very popular SD880 IS, featuring the same 28mm wide angle lens with a 4X zoom, but jumps to 12 megapixels from 10. It can capture 720p HD video clips, and has Cannon's latest image processor. It also features an HDMI output, so you can quickly hook it up to an HD TV for playing back photos and videos. That unfortunately is one of the few good things about the design. Cannon used a 2.8 inch widescreen LCD, but you have to drop down to a 9 megapixel wide aspect resolution to use the full screen for framing shots. If you shoot at its top resolution of 12 megapixels, you're left with roughly 2.3 inches of screen for your viewfinder. Also this rotating directional pad isn't labeled. It does have functions when you press up, down, left, and right on it. You have to look at the screen to see what direction controls what function. Cannon dropped a couple of its usual buttons as well - 1 for printing, which is usually programmable to do additional actions on other models, and another for quickly changing exposure compensation. On the up side, the SD960 is small and comes in 4 color choices, and probably most importantly it takes very good photos with great color and exposure. The HD video is good too, but you don't get use of the 4X zoom while recording. If you tend to leave your camera in auto, this is a solid choice for a pocket camera, but you'll have to look past it's little design quirks. I'm Josh Goldman and that's a look at the Cannon Powershot SD960 IS. ^m00:01:56 [ Music ]
