>> Hi, I'm Lori Grunin, Senior Editor with CNET Reviews and this is the Canon PowerShot SD770 IS. This is a very nice ultra compact camera. It's a little too expensive to be considered a budget camera, but it's borderline and if you've been thinking about buying something in the 200 dollar range you may wanna spend a few more bucks and get this one. What's so nice about it? Well, first, I really like the design. Canon has been experimenting a lot with different curves, et cetera, et cetera and this happens to be one of the lesser curvy designs. And I like the simple aesthetics of it. It's easy to use, it's got a smallish LCD, but that's the price you pay for ultra compactness. It uses a switch for playback and record modes. Now personally I'm not crazy about using the switch for playback because when you have to switch that means you can't just press on the shutter button and have it go back into shooting mode. I much prefer review button. The other thing about the design, I like the layout of the buttons, but the switch tends to be a little too flat and I found my fingers occasionally falling on the border lines and pressing the wrong thing. In some ways this camera performs very well. It's got a very fast shut lag, but its shot-to-shut time is a little high and when you put flash on it gets really slow. However, if a lot of what you do is just shooting one off then this camera is actually one of the faster ones on the market and the image quality is very nice. This is a replacement for the SD1000 and the image quality is definitely better than that. The color is very nice and it's attractive, easy-to-use camera.
