>> Hi, I'm Josh Goldwin, senior editor for CNET Reviews. And this is a look at the Cannon Power Shot SD1200IS. It's a tiny ten megapixel camera with a 3X zoom lens in front. In back is a two and a half inch LCD with an optical zoom viewfinder. The camera is available in six colors. This is the green model. And the design is overall excellent, except for maybe the flat buttons that can be difficult to press for those with larger thumbs. This switch moves you between shooting modes, starting at the top with Cannon's smart auto that picks a scene mode that corresponds to what you're shooting. Then there's a program auto mode for controlling things like ISO, white balance, and color options, as well as access to a list of scene modes. Lastly there's a basic movie mode that records at 640 x 480, and like most of Cannon's cameras there's no use of the optical zoom while you're recording. Performance is good for its class, particularly its startup time which is only 1.4 seconds. Photo quality is very good too, but highlights tend to blow out, and low light performance is merely okay. Otherwise it's a fine take everywhere back pocket camera. [ background music ] I'm Josh Goldwin, and that's the Cannon Power Shot SD1200IS.
