>> Hi I'm Lori Grunin, senior editor for CNET.com and this is the Canon power shot G-7. Cannons enthusiasts G series has been around for a while and it's been awhile since they've updated, however they decided to come out with a 10 mega pixel version, which is making a lot of people ask if they're really room in the market for an enthusiast camera that isn't an ultra Zoom and isn't a digital SLR? And the answer is in some ways very much so, because it's relatively compact and it has a full feature set. It makes a good jacket pocket second camera for somebody who owns a digital SLR and because all of the buttons and dials and the LCD text, since it's also big, it's very good for people who are getting older and don't have the dexterity or the eyesight that they used to. It has an optical viewfinder, a lot of people with bad eyesight complain about the only LCD cameras. It also has all the features that we've come to look for in an enthusiast camera, semi-manual exposure modes, it's got a very nice navigation wheel with display that gives it a very retro quality, if anything with an LCD can feel retro that is. And it's got a very sturdy body made of metal, that's comfortable in your hands, the only drawback is key in and put a 10 mega pixel CCD in here whose noise isn't quite as low as we like for an enthusiast camera, other than that I really liked it. I'm Lori Grunin and this is the Canon power shot G-7. ^M00:01:40 [ Music ]

Canon PowerShot G7 Review
The good: A cornucopia of features; zippy; built like a tank.
The bad: No raw format support; relatively significant distortion at the widest angle of view; when zoomed out completely, lens intrudes into viewfinder.
The bottom line: The Canon PowerShot G7 is a solid enthusiast camera for those who've ruled out a budget dSLR.
