>> Hi, I'm Will Greenwald, associate editor of CNET.com and this is the Canon power shot A550 digital camera. This is a pretty cookie-cutter point and shoot camera, seven mega pixels, four X optical zoom lens and honestly not a whole lot else. As a budget camera, you might find some good qualities in this, seven mega pixels will give you a nice image size for printing and editing and four X optical Zoom will give you a little bit more power compared to the standard three X lenses you'll find on most budget shooters. Now it only has a 2 inch LCD screen, but it does have an optical viewfinder which is handy if the lighting is awkward and you can't frame your shot on the screen. Besides that it just has a standard selection of basic manual settings like white balance and iso-control, a handful of scene settings, movie mode and automatic shooting, beyond that, that's pretty much all you're going to see in this camera. It's a basic seven mega pixel shooter which if that's what you're looking for, might be a good choice. I'm Will Greenwald and this is the Canon power shot A550. [ Music ]

Canon PowerShot A550 Review

The good: Responsive performance; slightly above-average lens.

The bad: Images plagued with artifacts and fringing; small LCD.

The bottom line: This camera's low price tag and solid performance can help you forget that it doesn't have many bells or whistles.
