Both are sixteen megapixel entry level point and -- with this same twenty millimeter lens with a five X zoom. And two point seven inch LCDs on back. They have the same flat buttons that can be tricky to press and the same shooting modes including Canon's effects options. And both records 720 Ph.D. movies push of a button. They both produce nice photos and have the same -- shooting performance. What is different is that little IS in the model name the PowerShot a 2400 IS has optical image stabilization. -- -- -- 300 does not. With just ten bucks separating the two I strongly recommend spending the extra money to get -- a 2400. If you're looking for a simple pocket camera for casual snapshots. The good: The Canon PowerShot A2400 IS and PowerShot A2300 have very good picture quality for their class and are loaded with effects and filters.
The bad: The cameras' flat buttons and cramped layout may make use difficult for some and shooting performance is slow, particularly shot-to-shot. The lenses require a lot of light or high ISOs when zoomed in. Battery life is short.
The bottom line: The entry-level Canon PowerShot A2400 IS and its IS-less linemate the A2300 are simple cameras with nice picture quality for casual snapshooters, but the price difference isn't worth sacrificing the image stabilization.
