>> Hi I'm Lori Grunin, senior editor with CNET.com and this is the Canon HG10. Its Canons debut in the hard disk drive camcorder market and they are high definition AVCH HD format model is a very good first step. I very much like the zoom switch, which has an extremely high end feel rather then one of those switches; it's more of a rocker. Canon also introduces new navigation controls, the scroll wheel surrounding a four-way nav[SP?] and reset button. Although I like the idea of it, in practice I'm not really happy with the way it works plus it forces you to use the LCD when I like to shoot with the eye level viewfinder. The eye level viewfinder on this model is a bit small for my taste as well, it does pull out, but it doesn't move in either direction. The hard disk can hold about five hours of best quality video and the video that the HG10 produces is very nice. To play it back on your TV this model has a mini HDMI connector, many HDMI cables are still not that popular these days so you will have to hunt around and probably pay a little more to get one. One thing that was kind of disappointing about this model was the audio; the microphone didn't seem to work as well as previous models that I tested from Canon. And there's no audio controls, you can set your volume levels. Over all though it does produce really nice video and even though it's a little bigger than were used to, it's a nice handful of camcorder. I'm Lori Grunin and this is the Canon HG10. ^M00:01:40 [ Music ]
