Canon EOS Rebel Xti Video

The Canon EOS Rebel XS is a new entry-level digital SLR that provides an update on the older EOS Rebel XTi in the body of the new XSi.
Canon's newest top Rebel boasts a 12.2MP CMOS sensor and a live view shooting mode.
While it's more expensive than its sub-$600 competitors, the Canon Vixia HF20 and Vixia HF200 deliver a more extensive feature set for the extra money. The HF200, which lacks internal memory, is probably a better buy than the HF20, though the HF20's all-black body is a bit classier looking.
The Canon EOS Rebel XSi doesn't stand out for its feature set or design, but the digital SLR delivers on performance and photo quality.
The PowerShot A580 features nearly identical hardware as the A590, but with a slimmed-down feature set. It keeps the same 8-megapixel resolution and 4x optical zoom lens as the A590 IS, but forgoes the optical stabilization system and accessory lens compatibility. Worse yet for skilled users, it lacks the A590 IS' manual exposure controls.
Canon's newest Rebel delivers video capture at the lowest dSLR price yet.
Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS kit lens
The Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS kit lens is a solidly performing medium-zoom lens, with good optics and image stabilization, that will appeal to more than just the entry-level crowd.
The Canon PowerShot A460 is a low-budget camera with 4x optical zoom but only a 5-megapixel sensor and a limited feature set.
Though it's certainly a good, inexpensive megazoom camera, some aspects of the Canon PowerShot SX110 IS fall a bit short of its predecessor.
A very good pocket camcorder that, in a pinch, can double as a decent snapshot camera. With a higher-resolution LCD and a video light, the Optura 500 is a better bet, though.
Canon EOS Rebel XTi (body only, silver) Review
The good: Compact and lightweight; fast and responsive; intelligently designed with shooting-friendly layout.
The bad: Second status LCD has been eliminated; slow kit lens; no spot metering; poor exposure of backlit subjects.
The bottom line: The Canon EOS Rebel XTi remains a very good first dSLR, but ultimately a disappointing followup to the XT, which cedes its lead to the Nikon D80.
