Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept Video
Cadillac Urban Luxury Concept Video Transcript
During the last, what, 8, 10 years, Cadillac's really reinvented itself but can they go this far? That's why this concept is being shown here at the LA Auto Show. It's a very compact urban luxury vehicle, a city car, if you will. About the size of a Mini Cooper though it presents much more massive which is kind of that Cadillac design language, the really sharp, sort of blades here along these side flanks. Inside, of course, strictly concept car stuff but they're trying to get it to say luxury for the urban dweller. This was actually designed in a Los Angeles area studio for this kind of car culture that is very much in need of mobility, loves their cars but at the same time wants to get into something smaller but maintain the luxury. A number of car makers are trying to crack that code these days. Take a look at that little Aston Martin Cygnet, for example. Now, the power train on this guy is being envisioned. It's a concept, of course. They're thinking it would be a 1-liter, 3-cylinder turbo with electric assist, I guess that's another way of saying hybrid, auto start-stop technology, that's becoming fairly common these days, brake regeneration, all the tricks without it being an electric car, though. It's still basically sort of conventional car stuff with electric boost. Mileage will be in the 50 to mid 60 MPG range, they imagine. Now, again, this car is a concept but it's some idea where Cadillac wants to go, scissor doors and all.
