>>Fans of sports radio have been left out in the cold with MP3 players for the most part, that is until now. I'm Jasmine France and this is the C. Crane Witness AM/FM MP3 player. That's right this has an AM tuner built in. This is the only player I've seen on the market recently that has an AM radio. It's extremely hard to come across, the sports radio is a big reason for it, talk radio cause there is AM programming that people want to listen to. So this has both the AM and the FM tuner built right in. It does have the ability to schedule recordings which is a great feature for this and it also has other features for recording you have line in and mic recording so you can do voice recording. So those are the major features of this MP3 player. Other than that it's very, very basic. You don't have a color screen. It's very small monochrome screen with a backlight. The menu organization is very just simple, basic, like step down menus. You don't get ID3 tag sorting, I don't think there's any playlist support on here. You have a vast array of buttons on the front. There's a circular control pad with a center play/pause/power button, there's a menu button, a play speed button, an AV loop button, a back button, an edit button, a record button, so you have lots of buttons here on the front, all along the front, like I said, very easy. On the side you do have dedicated volume, always like to see that and a hold switch which always comes in handy as well. Finally on the bottom you have the proprietary USB connection and the headphone jack which is a standard headphone jack. It does have a nice sturdy feel to it. One thing is that it is pretty pricey for what it is. It's gonna be $229.95. So that's a lot for 2 gigabytes but if you really want an AM radio built into your MP3 player this is pretty much your only option. I'm Jasmine France and this has been the C. Crane Witness. C. Crane Witness AM/FM MP3 Player Review

Editors' rating

The good: The C. Crane Witness AM/FM MP3 Player has both AM and FM tuners built in and the ability to schedule recordings from either band. It also offers mic and line-in recording and includes an SD-card expansion slot. It's easy to use and has a sturdy feel.

The bad: The C. Crane Witness is pricey and only comes with 2GB of internal memory. The screen is small and monochrome, and there's no ID3-tag sorting for MP3s or playlist support. MP3 playback is more complicated than it needs to be.

The bottom line: The C. Crane Witness AM/FM MP3 player is expensive, has some questionable interface issues, and doesn't have a lot of the bells and whistles of most modern MP3 players, but if you must have an AM tuner and the ability to schedule radio recordings, this is the device for you.
