Buzz Report: Where the pimps are Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Molly Wood, and welcome to the Buzz Report. This week, Firefox Download Day, pimps and prostitutes, and Clogging the Tubes. No Gadget of the Week but that's because we have something awesome and top secret coming at you next week, and you are going to love it. OK, Let's jump right in with the big news of the week. This past Tuesday was FIREFOX DOWNLOAD DAY 2008! The biggest single-day download event of the year! Firefox was looking to set a record for most downloads in a single day, and wow. What a marathon it was. Let's take a look. Get firefox dot com Site's down. Site's down. Site's down. Site's down. Site's down. Site's down. But then the site started working, and things took off like a ROCKET! We sent out special correspondent into the field to capture the excitement. (music) Tom Merritt reporting from cube 6237, where Katherine the intern is preparing to download Firefox 3. Katherine, how have you prepared for this moment. I've been downloading anything I can click. Just anything, and I've forgot about sleeping. I'm just downloading, that's all I can do. Ricking porn, malware and the R.I.A.A. for Firefox 3. Here she goes! (Cheering) Here she comes, it looks like she's about to do it. And she's done it! Another download for the books, back to you Molly. Mozilla's little download counter went crazy all day and all night Tuesday, and when the smoke cleared Wednesday, Mozilla had cleared more than EIGHT MILLION DOWNLOADS, far surpassing their goal of ... whatever their goal was! And it was probably a record, even though there was no pre-existing record, so even if they got like, 100 downloads it would have been a record! In actual news, though, CNET awarded Firefox 3 an Editors' Choice, so it turns out, it might actually be a good browser. No matter WHAT day you download it. In other news today, police in Chicago have arrested almost 80 people after using Craigslist.com to stage elaborate sting operations -- and almost 170 people since 2007. Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart says Craigslist is a "free advertising network for prostitutes and pimps." He says he's asked Craigslist to remove the "erotic services" section of the site, but the company refused -- and only LAST WEEK did they post a disclaimer that said child exploitation or human trafficking would be reported to the police. But I mean, you can't say that section is ONLY for prostitutes and pimps. I mean ... I took a look and ... Its Monday don't miss out on this special price!!!!," that could totally be a garage sale. Here, this nice guy, "Do U Need Help$ with Rent." Just a generous chap, looking to donate. Your Asian Choice Outcall ... nothing human trafficky sounding about that. Mention the Craigslist special ... oh, ok, wow. Yeah. Well. See, I don't think Craigslist SHOULD take this down. I mean, think of it this way. They're making it REALLY easy for the cops. OK, back to work. Here's what's clogging the tubes. This week, it's the Norwegian lion cam. See, what happened is, a couple of weeks ago, this lion at the Norwegian zoo gave birth to four little cubs, and it was the first lion birth IN Norway, and now they have a live webcam where you can spy on momma and the little kittens. And it's the cutest thing you ever saw (when it's working). And the site is all in Norwegian. I like to watch it Fullskjerm. Awww. Kitties. Go see 'em while they're still little! I'm Molly Wood, and this has been the Buzz Report. Thanks for watching. My sweet buns your hot dog ... what the ... Oh, there's pictures, oh no, un-see, un-see!
