Buzz Report: Introducing Cewebrity Death Match Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Molly Wood, and welcome to the Buzz Report. This week, a Buzz Report special: CeWEBrity Death Match, where people who are famous on the Internet FIGHT ... on the Internet. We've got an intense matchup today ... but first, let's get to some headlines. This week, Apple iPhone owners felt the uncomfortable sensation that comes with knowing there's a kill switch set to nuke your applications at a moment's notice. Steve Jobs himself confirmed the "security measure" hidden in the iPhone. Luckily, hackers quickly posted a hack that lets you deactivate the switch on a jailbroken iPhone. Funny how the iPhone starts to feel more and more ... like jail. But if you want to buy your way into jail, it was also announced that Best Buy will start selling the iPhone this September, and that should help ease the crowds at the Apple store. So, you know, at least you won't have to LINE UP to get into jail. That's just embarrassing. And finally, Twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, best known for accusing Mark Zuckerberg of stealing the idea for Facebook from them, are in the rowing finals of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. That's good news for them, since their Facebook lawsuit isn't going so well. And since there's no chance of them messing with my ninja score, I can safely root for them to take home the gold. You go, Winklesvosses! Ok, speaking of conflict, it's time for THE MAIN EVENT! (music) Please welcome CeWebrity Death Match co-host and color commentator Brian Tong! Looking for a good matchup today, eh, Brian? I've officiated Prizefights, but I've never seen anything like this.." Today's round pitches Andrew Baron, the founder of Rocketboom, against Jason Calacanis, founder of Weblogs, Inc., publisher of Engadget, and CEO of the search engine Mahalo. The two were locked in VICIOUS battle, VICIOUS BATTLE, this week on Twitter ... let's get right into the fighting. It starts early the morning of August 12, Andrew Baron lobs the first grenade. Interesting - I just noticed that Mahalo has been completely flat for the last 5 months with no growth. That doesn't seem too bad, what do you think Brian? That's not too bad, just a little flesh, cat-scratching thing. Little bit, little scratch, but Calacanis doesn't like it .... he starts with statistics, but quickly moves on to attack mode ... thanks 4 caring! August on track 4 record month-that's slowest month of the year! congrats on daddy's investment/lawsuit in RB! Oh snaps! What's RB? Jason Calacanis, of course, referring here to recent reports that Andrew Baron's father loaned him money to start RocketBoom, (RB) then took his own SON to court to make him pay it back. A low blow, some might say ... but oh, he gets lower. Yes, he does. Love how trustfund baby Andrew Baron is trying to start trouble with someone like me who worked his way up. Go suck your daddy's teet Baron. WHOA! Did he say ... teet? I don't even think that's how you spell that! No that's how you spell it. Along with a face full of YOU GOT SERRRVVVED! Molly! Well, it was all downhill from there, and a one-sided battle it was. Baron responds mildly ... Just bcause I pointed out Mahalo's flat for 6mo. I dont see why you are defending the site by attacking me personally. But Calacanis keeps the pressure ON! Like a fat lady on a little man. You're a hater and always will be. Kanye told me "if Andrew hates then let 'em hate-and watch the money pile up, the good life" (Music: Welcome to the good life?) put your speakers on 11 and kiss my ass, i made mine, you was given yours. word. Oh my goodness, Kanye's in it, Kanye's in it, it's a ripple threat match. Work? No way, I'm super lazy and have never done anything in my life. I just drink beers all day and hang out on the tube. Clearly you've done little but spend daddy's money. shouldn't u be getting another graduate degree in nothing right bout now? OHHH, that hurts, hittin' a guy right in his GRADUATE DEGREE! He's all over him like white on rice! 11? My speakers don't even have an 11. Molly! And finally, Calacanis goes for the numbers kill: 2 record months in last 4 is not flat. August will be 3/5 record months. so, please go back to begging daddy for more RB budget Ooh, giving him the Panda Eye. And finally, Baron goes for a jab ... if you can call it that ... One final point unrelated to address Jason Calacanis' personal attacks: He has many sugar daddies that gave him tons of cash to start Mahalo. That's an order for a chalupa with weak sauce. Molly! Well, Brian, I've gotta say, Calacanis comes off like a hyper-aggressive wack-a-doodle here. Uh huh, but when it comes to CeWEBrity Death Match, that's how you win!!! That's how you do it! Argh! Argh, Calacanis! And that's it for this week's show everyone. I'm Molly Wood, and this has been the Buzz Report. Thanks for watching.
