Buzz Report: Burning, burning iPods Video Transcript

Hi, I'm Molly Wood, and welcome to the Buzz Report. This week: tips for Japan, browsing for porn, and Mormons on Facebook? But first, the Gadget of the Week. The Gadget of the Week is the Palm Treo Pro! That's right, Palm is out to prove it's still in the game with this one. It's got a new, sleek design, Windows Mobile 6.1, full QWERTY keyboard, of course, quad-band, HSDPA/UMTS support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. And here's some dish...word has it that Palm will sell it unlocked in the U.S. starting in the fall. So, even though it doesn't have 'Wurdle' or 'Super Monkey Ball' (I love you, 'Wurdle')...it's, you know, unlocked! Sweet! This week, the Japanese government began investigating reports that iPod Nanos had overheated and even scorched some nearby paper! You know, we could probably save the Japanese government a lot of time...hey guys? Richiumu iion denchi ga haite imasu. Sorera no mokuteki desune ~ Hope that clears it up for you. In other news this week, there are rumors that Microsoft may include a private browsing feature in Internet Explorer 8. Also known as "porn mode," the feature makes it supereasy to clear your cache, empty your browser history, and block cookies. And look at porn. Side note: the feature has been included in Safari since 2005. For porn. Moving on! American Airlines is now offering in-flight Wi-Fi access on three New York-based routes. For porn. OK, enough porn. Let's talk about Mormons. Another rumor this week suggests that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has made an unsolicited bid to buy Facebook. Yeah. Facebook. Just imagine how that would go ... Oh, hey, I have a gift! It's a caffeine-free Pepsi! Should I install this sacred undergarments app? I heard you can never get rid of it. What's in my news feed...oh, someone baptized me! Let's check my polygamy app. Oh, cool, I've accumulated 5 new wives! But 15 new kids...that's gonna eat into my tithing budget for sure. Actually, I'm fine with it if they bring back 'Scrabulous.' And finally, let's have a look at what's Clogging the Tubes. This week, it's my new favorite site ever: It's Cakewrecks.blogspot.com. From terrifying clown cakes to hilarious miscommunication to...whatever's wrong with this frog creature. Even if you're not a cake fan, you will laugh. Believe me. And that's it for this week's show everyone. I'm Molly Wood, and this has been the Buzz Report. Thanks for watching.

Burning Man: What's the fascination for Silicon Valley?

In 1986, on a San Francisco beach, about 20 participants got together to burn an 8-foot structure of a man, and thus was born Burning Man. Twenty years later, the festival, which now takes place in the northern Nevada desert, is expected to attract some 35,000 people when it takes place next week. For some reason, Burning Man has occupied a special place in the hearts of techies. Join CNET News.com Charlie Cooper as he looks at why with Burning Man veterans Jennifer Guevin, Elinor Mills and Declan McCullagh during this week's edition of the CNET News.com Reporters' roundtable.\r\n\r\n
