>> Hi, I'm Molly Wood, and welcome to the Buzz Report. First up today, the gadget of the week. The gadget of the week is the Jedi Light Saber. It's a shockingly efficient energy blade that's excellent for uses such as slicing off hands and the arms and legs of storm troopers. It's very comfortable in the, I'm sorry, what are you saying? Not real? Oh sweetie, you must not have a Nintendo Wii. If you did, you would know that that Wii remote in your hand there is about to become a light saber, thanks to the impending release of Stars Wars the Fourth, Unleashed, which will include a special dual mode to take full advantage of the Wii remote capabilities, ergo, the light saber. Brilliant. And now for the news. Well, the UK got the iPhone this week, and dudes, no you know what? I'm gonna go straight to the source. We have one of our Crave UK editors here to tell us all about the iPhone's arrival across the pond.

>> Jason thank you so much for joining us here on the Buzz Report.

>> No problem.

>> Now I understand the iPhone was recently announced in the UK, will arrive November ninth, is that correct?

>> That's right.

>> And now are you honestly going to tell me that people were excited about the arrival of the iPhone in the UK?

>> Do you know what? We were, and do you know why? Steve Jobs was there. [ laughter ] We were so privileged to see this guy. He turned up, and he was right in front of us, it was like, it was almost like meeting God if you work in technology publishing.

>> I, I understand that people do get fairly excited about the arrival of Steve Jobs. But what about the iPhone itself?

>> Well you know, it's a, it's a cool product. But the, the shine has somewhat worn off I guess because it's been so written about and talked about and waited for for many, many months. It's kind of finally getting here, and not, not even for a while yet though, for a few weeks. It's a little bit of a letdown. [inaudible] they've already released the Touch which is kind of the same thing really, but without the phone. And as usual it's more expensive to buy in the UK than it is in the US. I think if you were to take the most expensive plan with what it's gonna cost you in excess of two thousand dollars over eighteen months just to buy the phone and pay for the plan.

>> So I think the real question here is do you know anybody in London who would buy an iPhone at this point?

>> No, I don't think so. I don't know anyone that will.

>> So there you have it. That's the iPhone's triumphant arrival across the pond. Draw your own conclusions. Yahoo has announced its new social networking play, Mash. Mash is different from Yahoo's former social networking play, Yahoo three sixty, which was considered by most to be a flop. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be optimistic about Mash. I mean it has that awesome name for one thing, and it appears to be basically Facebook, minus for now the ability to build third party apps that have pretty much cemented Facebook's success. Oh, and you can edit your friends' profiles yourself, like Wikipedia style. And no, I do not know why you'd want to do that. And I also do not know why you would go to something that's just like Facebook if you're already on Facebook. And also I do not know why Yahoo has not thought of these things. But I think I am starting to know why Yahoo three sixty didn't make it. In other product news, Halo three comes out next week. [ background music ]
