Aspiring-champion racecar Lightning McQueen is on the fast track to success, fame and everything he's ever hoped for -- until he takes an unexpected detour on dusty Route 66. His have-it-all-now attitude is thrown into a tailspin when a small-town community that time forgot shows McQueen what he's been missing in his high-octane life. From the master storytellers and animators at Pixar, this film was directed by Academy Award-winning John Lasseter ("Toy Story," "Toy Story 2," "A Bug's Life") and features the voice talents of Paul Newman, Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, "Larry the Cable Guy," Cheech Marin, George Carlin, Richard Petty, Michael Keaton, Tony Shalhoub, John Ratzenberger, Michael Wallis, Paul Dooley, and Jenifer Lewis.
A raw, powerful story of two young men, a Wyoming ranch hand and a rodeo cowboy, who meet in the summer of 1963 sheepherding in the harsh, high grasslands of contemporary Wyoming and form an unorthodox yet life-long bond--by turns ecstatic, bitter and conflicted. From Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning authors Annie Proulx and Larry McMurtry. Starring Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and Michelle Williams.
This film was nominated for eight Academy Awards including best Picture, Actor, and Director. Click here for trailers and clips from other Oscar nominated films on Download.com.
Woody Allen's wonderfully neurotic Alvy Singer falls for the equally neurotic Annie Hall and movie history is made. As talk-show host Conan O'Brien put it, no one plays "lovable befuddlement" like Diane Keaton, and no one creates romantic comedies quite like Woody Allen. Existential angst has never been so entertaining. Arguably Allen's best film, "Annie Hall" took home Oscars for Best Picture, Actress, Direction, and Screenplay (cowritten with Marshall Brickman).
Set in the 1880's, this epic story pits three brothers against each other in the Australian outback. Directed by John Hillcoat from a screenplay by Nick Cave, the film stars Guy Pearce, Ray Winstone, Danny Huston, John Hurt, David Wenham, and Emily Watson.
"A Scanner Darkly" is set in suburban Orange County, California in a future where America has lost the war on drugs. When one reluctant undercover cop is ordered to start spying on his friends, he is launched on a paranoid journey into the absurd, where identities and loyalties are impossible to decode. It is a cautionary tale of drug use based on the novel by Philip K. Dick and his own experiences. Like a graphic novel come to life, "A Scanner Darkly" uses live action photography overlaid with an advanced animation process (interpolated rotoscoping) to create a haunting, highly stylized vision of the future. The technology, first employed in Richard Linklater's 2001 film "Waking Life," has evolved to produce even more emotional impact and detail. Written for the screen and directed by Richard Linklater, the film stars Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr., Woody Harrelson, Winona Ryder and Rory Cochrane.
An overworked man and his family head to the Colorado Rockies for a much-needed vacation, but their relaxing roadtrip soon becomes a succession of misadventures. Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, the films stars Robin Williams, Kristin Chenoweth, Jeff Daniels, Tony Hale, Cheryl Hines, Josh Hutcherson, and Jojo Levesque.
A new epic fantasy set in China's mythical past, "The Promise" is a visually stunning tale of passion that unfolds against a backdrop of war as a beautiful and mysterious princess becomes the object of affection for three very different men - a powerful Duke, a brave general and a lowly slave. As passions spark and egos clash, lives will be ruined and lovers spurned and no one will ever be the same. Directed by Chen Kaige, winner of the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film for "Farewell, My Concubine," "The Promise" was also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film. Cinematography and production design are by Academy Award winners for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," Peter Pau and Tom Yip, respectively.
