>> So where do you think Buicks sell the best? [inaudible], Peoria? Um um, wrong country folks. China is now the number one market for Buick. So it's about time GM lets the Chinese have a hand in penning one. And that's exactly what happened here. This is the Buick Riviera concept, done by GM's Shanghai design center. It's a very different looking Riv. Among the details they draw you to are the lights, front and rear, very finely crafted. Because in China a Riviera, a Buick in general is seen as a very high end car. They say the headlights were inspired by ivory Chinese antiques. Huh, I don't quite get that part, but there's a lot of nice detail going on here. Also the interior is highly uprated. Check out the materials and the attention to detail there. Wasn't too long ago that one of the GM executives admitted as much as to say that Cadillac's interiors were cheap and crappy looking. So the general's given the idea, and their general interior upgrade is pinnacled on this car. Now nothing about this Riv concept is going into production, it's way out there as concept cars go. But it does give you an interesting indication of turn of events in the auto industry. China's no longer a place where you just build stuff, it's now a place where you also can see things. ^M00:01:23 [ music ]
