Video description: The Bronx I mean its THE MOTHERF-ING BRONX man. The band that finally walked the walk that everyone else just talked. The real thing. The first band to bear comparison to Husker Du and not look ridiculous. As powerful as Black Flag and as intelligent as Darby Crash (just kidding guys). Probably the best live band in the world.

Super Furry Animals: "The Gift That Keeps On Giving"

On the way to diversifying their sound, Super Furry Animals have found a new focus. After calling off the search for meaning, they stumbled upon it by intuition and the power of magic. Of course, when a band has played together for 10 years there is bound to be an unspoken shared aesthetic, and this time around they've communed over decadence. As you'll see, Love Kraft is the sound of SFA maturation, with not a monsteriffic yeti, tank, or inflatable bear in sight.

"Lou Reed: Transformer" DVD clip: "'Waiting for the Man'"

Reed talks about one of the best-loved hits off "Transformer". This footage is from the DVD "Lou Reed: Transformer".
Lou Reed with the help of Andy Warhol at the 'Factory', made The Velvet Underground a massively influential band. However it was "Transformer", Lou Reed's second solo album, which took him from cult hero of The Velvet Underground to international superstar status. The program takes a track-by-track look at the album, which was produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson. In an exclusive interview in New York, Lou Reed talks of the making of the album and together with Ken Scott, the original engineer, takes us through the multi-track tapes of "Perfect Day" "Vicious", "Satellite Of Love" and "Walk On The Wild Side" amongst others. In London Herbie Flowers shows us how the bass line on "Walk On The Wild Side" was recorded, creating what is one of the most famous riffs in popular music. Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics talks of Lou Reed's influence on him as a songwriter and musician. The program is illustrated throughout with archive footage of Lou Reed in concert, The Velvet Underground, Andy Warhol and the 'Factory' and features exclusive new acoustic material from Lou. This program provides a unique insight into the process behind the recording of Transformer, which perfectly captured the spirit of the early 1970's, and illustrates why today it is still considered a truly Classic Album.

The Constantines: "Nightime/Anytime, It's Alright"

When the Constantines headlined the Sub Pop showcase at the 2004 SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas; the band's show concluded with them standing on the speaker stacks clapping and keeping time for the audience as the room sang the band's recent set closer (Lou Reed's "Temporary Thing") back at them. This scene lasted a full five minutes, five minutes of finale without the band playing a single note and thus the increasingly impatient promoters, fearful of running over their strict Texan curfew, couldn't even unplug the band to get them off the stage. But then the purpose of the stage is constantly called into question at Constantines shows. Bryan and Steve will regularly move their mic stands into the crowd and Doug frequently hands out percussion to the faithful gathered together near the band. The greatest rock and roll is always transformative, a concept that the Constantines grasped from their inception and one which was so readily on display at this show. The boundary between band and crowd is blurred; inhibitions are lost, along with voices, and ultimately you feel more alive than you did before the band took the stage, before you stopped noticing the stage.

The Foggy Few: "Pint of No Return"

The Foggy Few from Bergen, Norway, is a folkrock band inspired by Irish and Scottish music. From its start in September 2003, the band has been on the bill with major Norwegian artists, touring every corner of the country. In a short amount of time The Foggy Few has gained a reputation as an awesome live band, and has developed into one of the most exciting new folkrock bands in Norway. Their music has made people compare them to bands such as The Pogues, The Waterboys and The Hooters, which must mean that The Foggy Few are on to something good, although their sound is very much their own. The band's summer hit "Summerfeelgood" has been playlisted on Norway's biggest radio channel, NRK P1. The Foggy Few's debut album is out in 2006 and it is called "Pint of No Return". To promote the album The Foggy Few will tour all around Europe. More info at www.thefoggyfew.com
