-What's up, guys? Brian talking here from CES Show floor at CES 2013. And we do a lot of live new tours. We wanted to show you really in-depth the process of 3D systems, CubeX technology also along with their capture app and their sculpting app. This is just some amazing stuff and we really haven't shown you the entire process. So, wanted to kinda dig in, get into it and have a little fun here since we have time here on the show floor. I'm here with Ash Martin, one of the creators of this Cubify Capture app. And tell us what you're trying to do here with the app. -All right. So, with Cubify Capture, basically, anybody who can take a picture can now create unique 3D content just by taking a bunch of images or a video of an object. So, with completely democratizing content generation, no more 3D design skills, no more 3D modeling skills. Literally, just take a bunch of photos of an object or a person's face and we can digitally reconstruct that and bring it in Cubify. You get to play around with it and then download it and print it on your 3D printer. -Now, is this app gonna be a free app available on, you know, Android IOS? So, how will people get their hands on this app, initially? -Yes. So, it's on cubify.com right now under Cubify Capture. We also have an IOS app that's coming out so you can upload natively and view it on your IOS device. And the nice thing is our upload app online actually works on Android browsers. So, yeah, we're on everything. -So, can you talk about how this app actually pieces the images together, what somebody would do? Because we're gonna try it out. So- -Yeah. So, basically, we take multiple different perspectives around an object. Okay. So, it's the reverse of a panorama, right? And so, you're not taking like this. We're actually going around the object. And when we see those same features and a bunch of different images, we're able to match them up and say, okay. We can digitally reconstruct what you are and then we take those original images and we throw them back on top of that modeless texture. So, you get one of these bad boys right here. -Does that look familiar at all? -Yeah, that's right. That's Ash meets the little Ash. -Right. 10-second iPhone video across the front of my face, and all of a sudden, you get one of these. -Okay. So, I'm excited because we're gonna actually do a scan like this on myself outside. So, you're gonna take me that way? -Yeah, let's do it. -Okay. -Let's go. All right. So, I'm gonna need you to stand against that wall over there. -You don't like my shimmy shape? [unk] -Yeah. I'm digging it. -All right. -So, here's the deal. Stand against the wall, not all the way. -Okay. -Pick a point out in the distance that you're gonna stare at because I need you to be perfectly still for 10 seconds. And all I'm gonna do is open up the Cubify Capture app. I'm gonna click new capture. -Okay. Tell me when to smile. -And, you're ready? -Yes. -Big smile, stand still. Done. -Done like that? -Like that, man. That's it. -Wow. -Upload it to Cubify Capture. It will process it, turn it into a 3D model and we'll give you the model back so you can view it online or view it on your mobile device. -And then, once this is captured, also, you have a tool called Cubify Sculpt where you can kind of fine tune it into a few different things with it as well? -Yeah, absolutely. You can download the file, put it in the Cubify Sculpt. You can kind of play with your face, you know, pull it in different directions or throw your face on like a dragon or a bug or anything else that you can sculpt. -Okay. Awesome. So, we're gonna get this process done and then we'll see you back inside where we start printing the scan that you made of my face. And we'll see what it looks like in 3D, all right? Okay, guys. So now, my face has been scanned into the Cubify Capture app. I'm here with Joshua St. John. He has the Cubify Sculpt app and he's gonna show me a few really cool things of how they kind of take this data and then mold it and manipulate it and have some fun with it, right? -Yeah, absolutely. So, we captured the scan here and this is kind of his face in the machine. And then, we're gonna use Cubify Sculpt to make him into a samurai. -Okay. So now, that we have this data in here, we're gonna be able to print this on your lovely CubeX printer that won our Best of CES Awards. And I'm super excited seeing me samurai style. Tough, rough, right? -Yeah, absolutely. We're gonna get joined together and put it onto the Cubify right now. And we should have a printed piece in a couple of hours. -Okay. So, we'll just let time go by and maybe it'll take a little nap, change my clothes. Who knows? But I can't wait to see what this looks like. Okay, guys. So, I'm ready to do this, Joshua. I guess the 3 prints have been made. -Yeah, we got a couple over on the printers for you to see. -Oh, okay. Well, I'm gonna look inside. So, honestly, I've not seen these at all yet. So, I'm gonna follow your lead, okay? -All right. We're really excited to show you. -Okay. Okay. So, I like to close my eyes or should I like look right now? -You can look right now. There you go. -Oh. That's the samurai bust? -That's the samurai bust. -Crazy. -And you even got the little goatee there for you. -Yeah, you put a little texture for the hair and, honestly, like I can tell that it's my nose because I have a big nose. -This was the shield but the face was smaller here. -It's a little small but this is more like, you know, I could rock this like the BTC Samurai Chest playing. -There you go. Drill some holes. -Right there. -Get your chains. -So, there you have it, guys. I mean, this is awesome stuff, just a really cool walk through of the entire process here at the 3D Systems booth. And just 1 more thing. Can I just give you a hug? -Yeah, man. That was great. Thanks so much. -I'm in 3D, baby.
