In a nation terrorized by its own government, one man dared to tell the truth. The year is 1953, television is still in its infancy and the esteemed broadcast journalist, Edward R. Murrow (David Strathairn), anchors the popular news documentary show, See it Now, on CBS. Murrow, alongside producer Fred Friendly (George Clooney), oversees a show that reports on the news items of the day.
A powerful figure at the time is Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin, who is on a singular crusade to rid the country of communists. His relentless pursuit of anyone he feels may have connections to the Communist party has allowed a sense of paranoia to seep into the public consciousness. Such is the reach of his power that people from the armed services to the creative community are forced to quit their jobs and go into exile based on his attacks.
Edward R. Murrow dares to question Senator McCarthy and his agenda and becomes a target of the Senator himself. Undeterred, the pioneering journalist continues to openly criticize and confront Senator McCarthy on his show and the public's opinion of the Senator finally begins to waiver. Quadriplegic rugby players. Whether by car wreck, fist fight, gun shot, or rogue bacteria, these men were forced to live life sitting down. In their own version of the full-contact sport, they smash the hell out of each other in custom-made gladiator-like wheelchairs. And, no, they don't wear helmets. From the gyms of middle America to the Olympic arena in Athens, Greece, "Murderball" tells the story of a group of world-class athletes unlike any ever shown on screen. Frightened by the President's apparent nervous breakdown, his Chief of Staff (Willem Dafoe) pushes him back into the spotlight, booking him as a guest judge on the television ratings juggernaut (and the President's personal fave), the weekly talent show American Dreamz. America can't seem to get enough of American Dreamz, hosted by self-aggrandizing, self-loathing Martin Tweed (Hugh Grant), ever on the lookout for the next insta-celebrity. His latest crop of hopefuls includes Sally (Mandy Moore), a conniving steel magnolia with a devoted, dopey veteran boyfriend (Chris Klein), and Omer, a recent Southern Californian immigrant (who just happens to be a bumbling, show tune singing, would-be terrorist awaiting activation). When both Sally and Omer make it to the final round of Dreamz--where the President will be judging along with Tweed--the stage is set for a show the nation will never forget. The film also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Jennifer Coolidge, Seth Meyers, John Cho, Judy Greer, and Sam Golzari.

Journalism student Matt Buckner (Elijah Wood) has been expelled from Harvard for a crime he didn't commit. His promising career ended and his future looking bleak, he heads for London to seek refuge with his married sister Shannon (Claire Forlani) and her husband Steve (Marc Warren). Steve introduces Matt to his younger brother Pete (Charlie Hunnam) and, through their friendship, Matt enters the world of football fanaticism and the secrecy and intrigue of the football firm. Pete Dunham and his close knit group of friends make up the Green Street Elite (GSE), a hard core group of West Ham United supporters ? and one of the toughest London football firms. All the football clubs have a firm and they all have one aim ? to be the most feared and respected mob in the country - no matter what it takes. As Pete explains 'West Ham's football is mediocre, but our firm's top notch and everyone knows it? it's really about reputation ? humiliating the other mob by beating them in a row or doing things that other firms get to hear about.' Matt is not only drawn into the sheer excitement of the game of football itself, but also the brotherhood and loyalty of life inside the GSE. The buzz that violence brings to him produces a sense of power that he has never before experienced. But Matt has been sparring with the truth about his past life and not every member of the firm considers him a 'brother'. Bovver (Leo Gregory), resents the presence of the outsider and his own apparent demotion within the ranks of the GSE. His continuing distrust and dislike of Matt creates a powder keg of jealousy and emotion that's just searching for an opportunity to blow. When Bovver discovers hidden information about Matt it sets off a devastating chain of events that tests friendship, loyalty, honor and determination in battle. The film moves beyond the headlines of various American military operations to the deeper questions of why: why does America fight? What are the forces--political, economic, ideological--that drive us to fight against an ever-changing enemy?
"Frank Capra made a series of films during World War II called 'Why We Fight' that explored America's reasons for entering the war," Jarecki notes. "Today, with our troops engaged in Iraq and elsewhere for reasons far less clear, I think it's crucial to ask the questions: 'Why are we doing what we are doing? What is it doing to others? And what is it doing to us?'"

Amon Tobin: "Foley Room" (DVD trailer #1)
March of 2007 will see 'Foley Room' come to fruition. An expansive project which had Amon Tobin, armed with vintage recording tools of the highest caliber and a helpful crew of friends, traveling far and wide in search of as many interesting recordings as possible; wildlife, insects, machinery, kitchen utensils, musical instruments and musicians were all recorded with calculated objectivity in order to then be brought in to the studio and treated simply as raw material. This is the basis of his new album. To better explain how all this went down there will be a documentary DVD accompanying the album; here are the trailers...ENJOY!
