>> Everyone is going efficient here especially the big German brands. Check out BMWs Efficient Dynamics Turbo Diesel Hybrid X5. Got a lot going on here, so let's take it piece by piece; 2 liter, a little bitty in line 4, dual turbo diesel with variable geometry worked that through a Hybrid system for extra ummph down low, couple that to an 8-speed automatic with long legs because when you got a lot of torque, you can do that. The gears can be kind of tall, bottom line, 0-60 in a little under 9 seconds, not super speedy but you know that belies the torque in the speeds where you need it and 43-ish miles per galloon for a pretty big SUV. Now, there's still 12 volts in the cabin but a 120 volts is engineered on the main trunk in this guy to move a lot of electrical power. Now, it's all engineering concept right now but nothing about this is crazy stuff. It could be done, although it's more likely to sell in Europe than the US. Why do we need diesel so much? ^M00:01:17 [ Music ]
