BlackBerry PlayBook Video Transcript

-I'm Natali Morris for CNET. You're watching our coverage of the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show, and we're taking a first look at the BlackBerry PlayBook. This is BlackBerry's tablet that we've been anticipating. It's one of the few tablets here at the show not running Android. It's running Research In Motion's own operating system called BlackBerry Tablet OS. It's got this kind of nice card-style navigation where you can multitask between your applications sliding back and forth. You might notice there are no physical buttons but the touchscreen actually expands beyond what's just lit up. You can start your touch off the screen, which makes for a really smooth navigation. It's about a centimeter thick. It weighs about a pound. It feels very sturdy in my hand. This is a 7-inch touchscreen. It also has 2 cameras. Both are capable of shooting at 1080p video. The one in the front is 3-megapixels; the one in the back is 5. This is a Wi-Fi only version. But if you wanted to get this on a cellular network, you could do that by tethering it to your BlackBerry. It tethers to BlackBerries only but that serves 2 functions: one, it serves as a modem, so it gets this on your cellular network; two, it actually takes the screen from your BlackBerry, puts it here so you could navigate it on the tablet. A 4G model will come out with Sprint later on this year. We don't know pricing yet on this but we do know that it comes out in Q1, so, we'll have a more formal review for you then.
