>> Hey welcome to Crossfade TV, this is Kurt from Download Music. We're in Austin, Texas this week where South by Southwest is in full swing. A pretty scene of great shows this week including Dale Watson at The Continental Club. He played for over two hours. ^M00:00:18 [ Music ] ^M00:00:21

>> Also caught a good rock in roll blow out at The Hole on the Wall with Syd Straw, the Minus 5, the members of R.E.M. and the Silos. There was a lot of shows I'm really looking forward to, one of them is the rock band British Sea Power. They've got a new album out they're touring on, it's called the Decline of British Sea Power. ^M00:00:36 [ Music ] ^M00:00:43

>> Also we care to see another British artist. She's a soul singer named Duffy and she's got the sixties, kind of classic soul vibe, reminds me of Dusty Springfield and Sammy Smith. ^M00:00:53 [ Music ] ^M00:00:59

>> Hey what's up? This is Peter Gavin with Download Music and I'm at South by Southwest in Austin. I'm really excited to be here and what I've noticed so far is that the artists are either really young or really old, which is a good thing. We have some great icons here. Lou Reed is the keynote speaker here in The Convention Center and the R.E.M. is set to headline Stubb's, which is one of the bigger venues here. We also have Van Morrison who's in town. Completely random, but he's here and -- but really it's all about the younger artists and that's what's South by Southwest is all about. I'm really excited to see Paramore. They were nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy. They lost to Amy Winehouse, but they're still blowing up. ^M00:01:36 [ Music ] ^M00:01:41

>> There is also some another bands. I need my cheat sheet here, they're so many, the Raveonettes, The Ruby Suns, Cut Copy, The Explorer's Club, a band called Does It Offend You, Yeah? and also another one called Throw Me the Statue. I guess band names are getting stranger every year. ^M00:01:59 [ Music ] ^M00:02:03

>> With over 1500 bands, it's really hard to pick favorites. That's why we have our best of South by Southwest on Download Music. For the music.download.com, check out our free play list and I'll see back in San Francisco next week. ^M00:02:17 [ Music ]
