>> Welcome back to Crossfade TV. I'm Kurt from Download Music, and this week my pick is Barry Adamson. He's got a new album on the way called "Back to the Cat," and we just posted the first single, "Spend a Little Time." ^M00:00:17 [ Music ] ^M00:00:22 Adamson's a former member of Magazine and Nick Cave's band, The Bad Seeds, and has done soundtrack work for films by Derek Jarman, David Lynch. That background makes a lot of sense when you hear "Back to the Cat." ^M00:00:32 [ Music ] Music wise, it's a weird no man's land between cabaret, funk, punk, and movie songwriters like Leonard Cohen and Scott Walker. It's aggressive, dark, and groovy all at the same time. ^M00:00:45 [ Music ] The album comes out in April, but you can grab a free download and spend a little time right now on our site. To find it, just go to music.download.com and search on the name "Barry Adamson."
>> Hey. This is Mike Tao, and this week I'm going with Michigan MC, One Be Lo, who recently dropped his second solo album, "The R.E.B.I.R.T.H" on Subterraneous Records. ^M00:01:08 [ Music ] ^M00:01:13 Now, One Be Lo first made a lot of noise when he was formerly known as One Man Army in the group Binary Star. And since then, he's managed to successfully segue way into a solo artist, without relying in any catchy hooks or superstar guest appearances. Now a perfect example of that is the track "Born and Raised," where he hits you with thought provoking lyrics about growing up in Pontiac, Michigan, and the impact of the auto industry. ^M00:01:35 [ Music ] ^M00:01:42 I gotta give him a lot of respect for releasing an album without featuring any guest MCs. So all you aspiring MCs out there, if you're dope, you don't need guest appearances from Snoop or T-Pain to sing on your hook. Now go out and buy that One Be Low album. Now.
>> Hey. This is Peter Gavin and my pick this week is Mobius Band. They just put out a covers EP called "Love Will Reign Supreme." ^M00:02:03 [ Music ] ^M00:02:08 This is their unique version of "True Love Will Find You in the End" by Daniel Johnston. ^M00:02:13 [ Music ] ^M00:02:18 They also cover Neil Young, The National, Bob Dylan, Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, and they even do "Digital Love" by Daft Punk. ^M00:02:25 [ Music ] ^M00:02:29 What's cool about this cover is Daft Punk originally sampled the song "I Love You More" by George Duke, and now Mobius Band has flipped it back into a song with live instrumentation. ^M00:02:39 [ Music ] ^M00:02:43 So now you know they're good at doing covers, but you should also check out their studio album. Just search for Mobius Band and you'll find original songs, plus their entire covers EP available free for download. ^M00:02:53 [ Music ]
