>> Hi, I'm Rich Brown, senior editor for CNET.com. Today we are going to take a look at the AVA direct core two duo SLI. Now this is a pretty big gaming system, it's nice and big, it's a little bit expensive but it has some over clocked parts that give it some really nice bang for the buck. You can see the system has these wings on the front, on this system though they are nice and open, you can see there's a media card reader as well as to optimal drives, a DVD player and a multi format DVD burner, there is also a little drawer that slides out, so you're actually going to have a lot of options here for both digital media and general storage. Inside the case is more or less tidy, it's a pretty clean building, you've got lots of room for expansion, there's room for extra hard drives here in spare memory as well, but you can see these cables have these coils around them, they probably keep things a little bit tighter than the cables might be otherwise, but there's a lot of them. That minor design issue aside though, this really is a nice system. Under here you have an over clocked core two duo chip, this video graphics card was over clocked to so you get really nice performance, it closes in on systems that cost about 1000 dollars more. AVA also includes two hard drives; there is one 10k drive here that's nice and fast and another 7200 Rpm Drive for general storage. Now aside from a little bit of cable clutter we have one more serious issue with this system. As you can see there is expansion room down here and you can in fact add another graphics card if you want to go SOI on this, but the problem is the power supply, it's a little bit underpowered according to viewing video specs. It's only a 620 watt model and for two of these cards, video recommends about a 700 and 750 watt supply. We asked AVA direct about it and they said that they had to put two cards in here with this power supply and it didn't have any problems, of course you might expect them to say that. We are kind of inclined to believe them, the power supply is pretty well rated in scandal and reviews, so it's not unreasonable to think that it might work, but still if you're going to have a lot of over clocked parts in a system, as well as a fair amount of other hardware, it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to power load. So I am Rich Brown in that's the AVA direct core two duo SLI. [ Music ]

The Dell Studio XPS 435 successfully overcomes our bias against desktops that claim to be experts at everything through charming case design and a strong configuration at a relatively fair price. It misses greatness because of a handful of minor missteps, but if you need a do-it-all mainstream tower system, this Dell more or less covers all the bases.
