>> I could stare at that thing all day long. That is the newest heartbeat of Audi's celebrated R8. You read it, V12 TDI. A V12 direct injection turbo charged diesel. Let that sink in for a minute. Now, some numbers, 500 horsepower, sit down for this part, 737 lb-ft of torque. That's madness. Ah, you gotta love this car and it's all down low where you really want it. Zero to sixty, a scant 4.2 seconds, but even better with this kind of wide torque curve, freeway passing, like 40 to 70, it'll happen so fast. It will be like someone just edited the film. Let's examine the exterior a little bit. There have been some beautiful touches, you saw that red, sort of plenum on the top of the engine. That signifies the heart of the engine if you will. Maybe not gonna make it to production, maybe will. On the rear here, you'll see a lot of beautifully fared in details including quad exhaust tips, but they're not exhaust tips, they're ports that are nicely integrated to the louvers that also mimic the lines of the tail lights. All the usual advance suspension and ride technologies that Audi is so well known for. Let's look inside the cabin though and see if we can spy in there. I see the latest edition of their MMI interface, and we also see a nice mini six-speed manual down there. As I peer around I also see Bang and Olufsen speakers here, so we know they've got an absolute supreme high-end audio system. And if you catch this, I love this air intake up on the roof. That's a great design touch. Now, all in all, this is a vehicle that is brutality powerful. It's a halo car, but not just a halo for the Audi brand, it's kind of a halo for the mission of the diesel power plant because while this vehicle has unbelievable performance and numbers on paper, it's a diesel, so it's going to be relatively efficient, as diesels are. And by the way, by 2015 Audi thinks 15 percent of their sales by volume will be diesel power plants. Not this one, but diesels in general, a good stretch goal. We'll see if they can make it. ^M00:02:06 [ Music ]
