>> This is the Audi Etron a concept car in case you can't tell. It sounds and looks a little too much like an 80s movie but it's an interesting vehicle. Each wheel has a brawny electric motor dedicated to it. A total of 313 horsepower but Audi claims over 3300 foot pounds of torque. What? That's over 8 times as much as a gas engine R8 which is no slouch. The range 150 miles depending how much you dip into that torque and the juice all gets stored in a 1000 pound lithium ion battery pack that lives back where the engine used to be. Inside the cabin is pretty spare, 2 gauges and chisel hoods flank a tilt out flat panel display. Controlling the cars systems is done via a touch pad not unlike smartphones. The gear selector if you want to call it that appears in the center console when you power up the car. Now of course much of this is concept car show circuit stuff but it does show that electric cars have now caught the fancy of both super car fans and companies that used to be married almost entirely to diesels.
