>> Matt: Hi, I'm Matt Elliott, Section Editor with CNET Reviews and this is the Asus X83VB-X1 Laptop, it's a retail laptop available in big box stores so it's a fixed configuration you can customize it prior to purchase it features a fairly standard configuration, Core 2 Duo processor, 4G of RAM, 64B Vista to take advantage of all that memory. It's a 14 inch laptop, 14 inch screen but it's kind of a beast of a laptop for that size, it's closer to 6 pounds than it's 5, it feels just very well built. So helping this stand out from the mainstream pack somewhat performance wise is the fact that instead of integrated graphics it throws in a low-end G-Force card, the 9300MGS, gonna have a bunch of card it does have 12 Megs of video RAM so it can play some games. The keyboard, the keys feel very light cheap plastic and it's very clacky and loud and they have a glossy kind of coating to the top, which doesn't provide the best feel, I don't think. This model is kind of in the 800 to 1,000 range and of the 5 retail laptops we tested this one was the fastest so you get a lot of speed, solid construction, but you will be carrying around a few more pounds than other 14 inch laptops. So, on the back you get a couple USB ports, eSonic for a fast data connection to external hard drives, HDMI, of course, you also get VGA and Ethernet back here. So, the left side next to the DVD player, the DVD burner is another USB port and actually you do get a little mini Firewire port here, which is commonly found lacking on many laptops these days, and of course, your headphone and mic jacks. I'm Matt Elliott and this is the Asus X83VB-X1 laptop. ^E00:01:38
