Asus Transformer Book TX300 is a Windows 8 hybrid laptop Video Transcript
Hello, I'm Luke Westaway for CNET here at CES 2013, with the ASUS Transformer BOOK TX300. Now we've seen this tablet-laptop hybrid machine before in concept form but this is the first time we get a peek at the finish article. So let's take a look at what's going on. So first they talk about the display, because it's something that it's quite impressive. This is a 13.3-inch panel and it has a 1080p resolution. It's looking very crisp and clear, I think I've seen brighter panels before in my life but I'm quite impressed at the clarity and generally it's looking very colorful. I think in movies, photos, it's all gonna look quite good on this screen. Take it as a whole, this device feels quiet like it's not too heavy and if I close it and spin it on its side, you can see, it's not really that thick either. I don't think you'll have any trouble logging this around with you all day. The solid state storage inside the tablet section and that gets confined with a mechanical hard drive that sits inside the laptop when you plugged it back in. The keyboard is backlit and the touch pad has this nice large area. So hopefully, it's gonna be quite comfortable to use. Or of course you can use the touch screen on the top. Taking a look around the side is a healthy number of ports on show here. You got two USB 2.0, you got mini display, there's a fold out Ethernet ports while over the other side you got SD card slots. But Lewis who's tells me this is the final product, it can't tell me anything about pricing or availability at the moment. So Intel have actually getting a hold of this thing, we just gonna have to stay tuned. Windows 8 certainly has a little potential but I'm yet to see one of this hybrid machines that really blows my socks off. ASUS has form when it comes to making this kind of device on Android, so let's hope that this could be the one to make my dreams come true. I'm Luke Westaway for CNET and this is the ASUS Transformer Book TX300.
Asus adds a lot of what we've been looking for in a hybrid to the Transformer Book, but no one has yet really nailed the perfect laptop/tablet combo.
The chunky Asus Transformer Book T300 springs from Windows 8 laptop to 13.3-inch tablet at the touch of a button.
The Asus Transformer Book Trio a laptop, tablet, and desktop in one.
It's great to see more touch-screen Windows 8 laptops under $600, but note that the Asus X202E requires some compromises in performance and battery life.
A strong design, tons of features, and plenty of performance make the Asus U46E-BAL6 one of the best 14-inch laptops we've seen all year.
The design and portability of the Asus UL50AG make it one of the slickest 15.6-inch DVD-drive-equipped laptops we've seen, but an ultralow-voltage processor compromises its computing power.
The Asus U50F is one of the best values in Intel Core i3 laptops we've seen, offering a great all-around package for its price, save for shorter-than-average battery life.
Lenovo's stylish U300s ultrabook is one of the best-looking Windows laptops we've seen and matches Apple's MacBook Air nearly spec-for-spec.
Razer's latest laptop isn't a touch covertible or a tablet...but it's probably one of the trimmest graphics-packed PCs we've seen. Check out our exclusive First Look.
The Asus Transformer Book T100 runs on Intel's Bay Trail CPU, ships with Windows 8.1, and fails to impress on build quality.
