Asus Taichi shows off both of its faces Video Transcript

I'm Dan Ackerman here at CES 2013 with the Asus Taichi. Now, this one is Windows 8 launched laptop that has not really been widely distributed yet. It has got a screen right here and the big trick is it's got a second screen right here on the back. Now, this screen here on the back is a touchscreen, the screen in the front is not. If you're getting to that next generation of Ultrabooks, then you're gonna have to have a touchscreen in the front and in the back. Now, you can set this screen in the back to be a mirror of the front screen or you can set it up like an extension. So you have one thing here and a second thing here. Super practical, I'm not sure. You can fold it up and use it like a tablet, like a lot of the convertibles and hybrid that we've seen. It was supposed to come out end of 2012. It's kinda filtering out now between $1200, $1400 in 11 and 13 inches versions. I'm Dan Ackerman and that is the Asus Taichi.

Asus Taichi Review

The good: The Asus Taichi 21 offers a clever implementation of a dual-screen design in a slim Core i7 chassis.

The bad: Only one of the screens is touch-enabled, which feels like a major oversight. There are probably only a handful of situations where you'd need an outward-facing display.

The bottom line: More of a clever proof-of-concept than a practical product, the Asus Taichi still delivers on its basic promise, combining two displays for a unique take on the laptop/tablet/hybrid genre.
