>> Hi, this is Rafe Needleman from CNET webware.com. And I'm taking a look at the Asus P5E3 Deluxe motherboard. Now at Webware we review Web applications, so why am I looking at a piece of hardware? Well, I'll tell you. This motherboard is hardware for Webware. Because this motherboard will boot directly into Firefox, saving you minutes of boot time if you're trying to get onto the Web from a cold computer. Inside this motherboard is a flash ROM with an invented version of LINUX that when you turn on, you have the option of running, instead of going Into Windows XP or Vista. From LINUX, there's a big button from Firefox, you click that, and in 15 seconds you are on the Web and browsing. That's all there is to it. You can skip Windows and the hassle of starting your computer when you just want to do something really fast. Now the advantages to this in addition to speed are security. The browser operating system cannot access the hard drive on the system. So if you want to lend your computer to somebody else, say you've got a guest at the house, they want to check their Web e-mail, you put them in this environment, they can't get on your computer and mess it up. Another thing, it's green. Because you don't have to leave your computer on all the time because you don't want to suffer the penalty of doing the -- waiting for a restart, you can just turn this computer on when you want to get on to the Web and you're there. And when you're done, you just hit the power button and turn it off. You don't even have to worry about shutting it down. You don't have to leave your computer on all the time. Also, there's an imbedded version of Skype in here, so you can use this as a phone. Just turn it on when you need it, make a phone call, turn it off when you're done. Now the downsides are this is the first version of this technology built by a company called Device VM. This motherboard is the highest-end Asus motherboard there is. It's $360 and it uses the super-expensive DDR 3 memory. So this is a very expensive product to use to save money. But it is the first, we think, of many products that will be using this technology. We'll see it in lower priced systems, lower priced mother boards, and hopefully very soon we'll see it in laptops. Again, it's the Asus P5E3 motherboard now available at geek stores everywhere. I'm Rafe Needleman from webware.com.
