>> Hi. I'm Bonnie Cha, senior editor at CNET.com, and today we're taking a first look at the Asus P527. Now, you might now Asus more for their motherboards or the components, but they're trying to branch out into smart phones, and the P527 is one of the first ones that we've looked at. And it didn't really leave a good impression on me. There are some good points. It's packed with features. It's got Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, and it's a Windows Mobile 6 smart phone. And Asus has done a nice thing by including some extra applications that you can use with the GPS, and just makes it easier to use the device. The design is really nice as well. Even though there are a ton of features, it's pretty compact. And it's got these nice shortcut buttons on the side. These extras -- some of you might know that Windows Mobile devices are kind of hard to use, but these shortcuts make them easier to open applications and things. But the big problem is this thing is so slow. There's so many times I thought it was frozen, but it was just thinking. So, you know, you're gonna pay $500.00 for this device because it's not been picked up by a carrier, and I just don't think it's worth it. And it also lacks 3G, so I'm gonna say, for right now, just kind of pass on it, which is unfortunate 'cause it's got everything else. I'm Bonnie Cha, and this has been your first look at the Asus P527.

Asus P527 Review

The good: The Asus P527 offers a lot of features in a compact design, including GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 2-megapixel camera. The Windows Mobile 6 smartphone also comes loaded with a handful of extra utilities for the mobile professional.

The bad: The P527 is excruciatingly slow in performance, and it lacks 3G support. It's also expensive.

The bottom line: The Asus P527 Windows Mobile smartphone may offer a ton of features and an attractive design but that's all canceled out by its frustratingly slow performance.
