Apple iPod Touch (second generation) Video Transcript

>>The second generation Apple iPod touch is without a doubt the coolest MP3 player we've seen all year. It's also my top MP3 player pick for the holidays. I'm Donald Bell and on this product spotlight I'm gonna show you what makes the iPod touch 2G such an awesome product. ^M00:00:14 [ Music ] ^M00:00:20

>>Pick everything you love about the Apple iPhone, the sleek touch screen design, the killer audio and video support, safari web browser, email, games, wireless music downloads and an app store filled with entertaining widgets. Then subtract all the things that suck about the iPhone, expensive cell phone contracts, poor battery life, limited capacity and plastic construction. The end result here isn't a phone but it's still a very fun, very useful and extremely beautiful portable media player. You can pick up an iPod touch for $230 dollars, $300 dollars or $400 dollars which gets you 8 gigabytes, 16 gigabytes and 32 gigabytes respectively. Just like its cousin the iPhone, the iPod touch uses a 3.5 inch touch screen display, a universal iPod USB connection, 3.5 millimeter headphone jack and a volume rocker switch on the side. Unlike the iPhone however, the touch uses a solid chunk of curved steel that wraps around the back and sides and usually makes iPhone owners a little jealous. So why is the iPod touch such a great holiday gift? Basically it hits everyone on your list. If you love music the touch offers genius playlists, cover flow browsing and support for 3rd party internet radio apps like Pandora and Last FM. If you're a TV or movie junkie the iTune store offers content from all the major TV networks as well as movie rentals and you can use the touch to take it all on the go. For business types you get full email support along with a safari web browser, stock ticker, notepad and a calendar that can sink up to Microsoft Outlook. Fitness fanatics can take advantage of the touch's Nike plus iPod integration, parents can use the touch to display their collection of family photos and kids get access to some really fun games. If you're concerned about arming your kid with a gadget that can explore every corner of the web, there's a set of parental controls for switching off various features and you can lock them down with your own personal pass code. So that's the iPod touch in a nutshell. In my opinion it is the coolest iPod ever and I think it's a great gift for the holidays. For CNET.com I'm Donald Bell. ^M00:02:17 [ Music ]
