Apple's iPad launches in New York City Video Transcript

>> Natalie: Today's the day the Apple iPad goes on sale. We are in front of the Fifth Avenue Apple Store here in New York City. The line behind me is actually for Amy Grant, she's playing on the CBS Early Show today. The line to my left is for the iPad. It's considerably longer than the line for Amy Grant but less long than lines have been in years past for iPhone launches. So we're gonna talk to some people in line and find out why they're there. Why are you here?

>> The iPad.

>> Natalie: So you are the lone woman in line. Actually there are just very few. Why are you waiting in line for an iPad?

>> 'Cause I really want one.

>> Natalie: Why would you stand in line here when you could have preordered and had it shipped to your house?

>> And miss the fun of meeting you and all these other folks. Are you kidding?

>> Natalie: Well, what do you think of these people in line for an iPad?

>> Crazy

>> Crazy

>> They've been sleeping here, that's nuts.

>> Natalie: Yeah, that is nuts. We're moments away from the launch. They're about to open the doors and Apple employees are cheering down there. They're cheering, "Let's go Apple." And looks who's here, Brian Cooley. Are you waiting in line for an iPad?

>> Brian: What, I'm gonna get a coffee. You want one?

>> Natalie: Yeah

>> Brian: Is there something going on? Great movie. ^M00:01:09 [ Cheering ] ^M00:01:19

>> Natalie: Congratulations on your new iPad.

>> Thank you.

>> Natalie: What do you think so far?

>> Amazing, it's really good. The screen's so much bigger than I thought it would be.

>> Natalie: Yeah

>> It's just really good. I can't wait to start getting my apps on it.

>> Natalie: Well you can see there's a lot of pandemonium going on down here. We were let downstairs with the media and kind of shuffled into this line so I kind of feel like I'm part of the hype. I might as well just buy one. That concludes your iPadurday [phonetic spelling] coverage. Have a good day. I'm Natalie Del Conti with CNET.com. ^E00:01:46
