I -- Scott Stein and believe me I wanted to like the thirteen inch MacBook Pro -- really did. In fact I own the very first 2008 MacBook in unibody aluminum design. And it has been a very successful very portable and frequently in the past powerhouse tech product. Unfortunately in the 2012 iterations it's kind of the MacBook in the middle we get that fifteen inch Retina Display MacBook Pro yet to cool MacBook Air. And then you have this model and 1199 at the same prices last year for the entry configuration. Which gets you a new third generation core I five processor which the Intel ivy bridge chipset. You also get a 500 gigabyte hard drive four gigs of ram. And you'll -- USB three ports is supposed to USB to what else do you get. That's kind of -- the design is the same the battery life is still great at seven hours but the rest of the teachers -- is kind of locked in even optical drive. You know was this for -- it's for pro user well the problem is that this thirteen inch screen still -- a 1280 by 800 display. That's what kind of like a thirteen to six by 768. If -- sixteen by nine screen but hey you've got -- Retina Display option now or you've got higher res displays on other laptops this is called it pro. You're also lacking discrete graphics now in new Intel HD 4000 graphics that are built and are better than blasters built in graphics on the thirteen inch -- so that's a plus. But you're not -- anything more powerful than that and you don't have any sort of Quad Core upgrade option. Basically anything -- would scream superpower pro is not in this model. Now the 1499 version you can bump up to a slightly larger hard drive more ram. Any dual core core I seven processor but the upgrade options after that are pretty limited. And for the same price 1199. You can now get a thirteen inch MacBook Air. Short that's got a lower capacity SSD drive sure it doesn't have optical and short doesn't have as many ports -- ethernet. But it performed in our tests pretty equivalent really close enough that we call them about the same. And -- -- chalk that up to a faster SSD on the MacBook Air but the bottom line is the experience is pretty similar and the battery life is better on the thirteen inch air. This is the year where it feels like this is a -- product if you want something. More powerful that's a Mac look at the fifteen inch MacBook Pro which has -- Quad Core processor Nvidia graphics in much faster and more powerful machine. Or get 2000 dollars to drop take a look at that Retina Display MacBook Pro acute care. But if you want something portable and you're looking thirteen inch you probably -- -- take a look at that thirteen inch air I'm Scott Stein and that's a look at the 2012. Thirteen inch MacBook Pro.

Apple trots out new MacBook Airs with Ivy Bridge
At WWDC 2012 in San Francisco, Apple's Phil Schiller previews beefed up MacBook Airs with Intel's Ivy Bridge processor. The new computers offer up to a 2GHz dual-core i7 processor. Other options include a 512GB solid-state drive with a read speed of 500MB per second.
The new MacBook, updated to Intel's Core 2 Duo CPU, compares very favorably with Apple's high-end MacBook Pro line, offering premium performance at a reasonable price.
Apple unveils next-gen MacBook Pro with Retina Display
Apple's Phil Schiller shows off the company's new ultra thin and light MacBook Pro at WWDC 2012 in San Francisco. The new laptop is 0.71 inches thick, with a 220-pixels-per-inch resolution and screen display of 2,880 by 1,800. It starts shipping June 11 for $2,199.
The 32-inch Sharp LC-32D44U's picture quality falls short of expectations, although the set is stylish and well featured for an entry-level HDTV.
Although it may look like a smartphone at first glance, the Pantech Hotshot from Verizon is actually a feature phone. Even if you don't need data, its sluggish processor and camera may not make it the best option if you're looking for a solid entry-level phone.
Samsung takes on the 11-inch MacBook Air with this new, smaller version of the slick Series 9 laptop.
Apple MacBook Pro (13-inch, Summer 2012) Review
The good: The new 13-inch MacBook Pro has a faster third-gen Intel Core i5 processor, and USB 3.0 ports.
The bad: Not much else has changed: the price, battery life, and older, thicker appearance, however well designed, remain the same.
The bottom line: While the 13-inch MacBook Pro remains a well-built laptop, it's fallen behind the MacBook Air and Retina Display MacBook Pro in design, lacks higher-end upgrades, and feels too expensive compared with the competition.
