>> Hi I'm Molly Wood from CNET.com here at CES 2008, consumer electronics nirvana for both big kids and little kids. The future for children is RFID equipped toys, if not RFID equipped children. That's coming. But first we have Animal Scramble. It's a twenty dollar toy that should be available in September. There is an RFID chip here in this little giraffe, and then a receiver in each of these little animals. And the premise is pretty simple. You turn this on, and it gives you audible instructions. Now the idea is that it will be interactive and educational for children. So it might tell them for example to find the tiger, or ask them what animal has wings, or ask them E is for elephant, or make a monkey sound. So basically they just put the giraffe over the correct animal, and it times them so you can have a nice little competitive element. Again, this is for three to five year old children, so you definitely want to make sure that they are racing each other as soon as possible. Again, this is Animal Scramble. [ background music ] I found it probably a little more fun than I should have. It will be available once again in September. At CES 2008 I'm Molly Wood for CNET TV. ^M00:01:05 [ music ]

"Dr. Jobs and his Scary Laboratory": Part 1

For more than twenty-five years, I have been a successful composer of music to accompany animation. I have worked on the cartoon, "Urusei Yatsura", and the movies, "Tampopo" and Gerry Anderson's "FireStorm". These works hardly pursue a whole synchronization of music and pictures, so inevitably, I feel frustrated with the unbalanced two elements. In recent years, my challenge has been to seek its solution with Brick Toys animation. The music composition has been another project. The amount of genuine animation for children seems to be decreasing, compared to the number aiming for OTAKU (freaks) in Japan. With this Dr. Jobs' series, I am aiming for five to ten-year old children. In each story, I'd like to create a comedy with this brick character, where you will find his brilliant inventions may lead to a bitter experience. Enjoy it!
