Since 1994, the duo of vocalist/guitarist Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno have been the authors of an unlikely success story, making the quantum leap(s) from critical pariahs in the mid 90's, to respected indie rock journeymen by the turn of the century, to their current rarified status as America's bravest, most challenging rock band. That all of the above has been accomplished sans gimmickry and far from the New York/LA/London axis, is less interesting than the strength of Spoon's ouvre.
A new classic from these well-pierced pop punk giants. MxPx is a Punk/Rock band that was formed in 1992 in Bremerton, Washington. The band originally consisted of Bassist/Singer Mike Herrera, Yuri Ruley on drums, and their friend Andy Husted on guitar. This trio grew up playing garage shows and shows at their friends' houses until their popularity prospered. Andy Husted was later replaced by Tom Wisniewski on guitar to form what we all know now as MxPx. Originally the band went by the name of Magnified Plaid. The name was changed to M.P., an abbreviated form of the original, and was on posters for an early concert. Yuri, the drummer, made the posters; in his handwriting, periods become X's. The nickname caught on and the band has been going by MxPx ever since. Each letter of the name is pronounced individually. They played on Warped Tour in the 1990s. As part of a deal, MxPx was simultaneously signed to Tooth & Nail Records and A&M Records. After A&M was bought by Interscope, MxPx was dropped, leaving them unsigned. In 2004, MxPx signed to Side One Dummy Records, and released a new DVD and Acoustic EP under that label. In the past couple of years, MxPx has been accumulating fame. Their hit single "I'm Okay, You're Okay" received much radio time during the late nineties, as well as their second radio hit "Responsibility" from the album "The Ever Passing Moment". They appeared on MTV in 2002 and can still be heard on many rock radio stations. Their song "Play It Loud" is also in the huge movie production "Lords of Dogtown" and can be heard during its commercial. MxPx continues to work hard and rock stages all over the country. In October 2005, there were some rumours saying that a follow-up to Panic will be recorded in 2006 and released in early 2007.

Abrasive Wheels: "Find Your Heart"
Abrasive Wheels, one of the original and most successful 80's Punk bands released two top selling albums, "When the Punks go Marching in" and the classic "Black Leather Girl." During the early eighties the British band, based in Leeds, were seldom out of the top five of the Indie Chart with blistering anthems such as "The Army Song," "Vicious Circle," "Burn em Down," "Jailhouse Rock," "Banner of Hope," and "The Prisoner." The Band reformed with the original lineup plus new guitarist Steve Popplewell and did their first gig in Bradford, England in February 2003.

2000 is (not) the year of NOFX! But don't listen to the hype; listen to the record. Pump Up The Valuum is more clever, more irreverent and more crude than NOFX has ever been: and hot on the heels of the unprecedented The Decline, an amazing 18 minute punk-a-thon, NOFX come slamming back with 14 instant classics (in about 32 minutes). Pump Up The Valuum combines some of NOFX's most outrageous (and curiously thought provoking) lyrics like in "Louise," "Herojuana" and "My Vagina" (a first-person account of becoming a transsexual), as well as some of their most poignant lyrics like in "Total Bummer." This, their eighth album for Epitaph contains some of the most barefaced drug references and sexual in-your-endos (innuendoes is the wrong word because that means that sexual acts are only "implied"). From day one, NOFX has been all about having a good time, regardless to whose expense it came. In the liner notes of 1996's Heavy Petting Zoo, NOFX blasted the music industry circle including major labels, print media, radio, and especially MTV. This time, NOFX bring their despise of major labels into the songwriting with "Dinosaurs Will Die." Lyrics like "Parasitic music industry" and "Music created from devotion / not ambition / not for fame / zero people are exploited / there are no tricks up our sleeves" refers to the death of the 5 remaining majors, and being glad they are independent.
