>> Nicole: I'm Nicole Lee, Associate Editor for CNET.com and this is a first look at the Alias Jawbone Icon; this is the latest Bluetooth headset from the makers of the, you know, the famous Jawbone line of Bluetooth headsets. They have continued their trend of very fashion-forward designs, as you can see here; this is just 1 of 6 designs that Jawbone is introducing; this is called the Ace. It's nice and curved very nice and shiny. On the top here is the multi-function button on the top. There are no volume controls here due to automatic volume normalization. On the back here you do get the earbud. You also get an on/off switch as well as a nice round LED around the voice activity sensor. Like all Jawbone headsets the voice activity sensor needs to be placed on the cheek for optimized sound quality. You don't need to do it but it's best to do it for a better sound. The Alias Jawbone Icon comes with 2 different styles of earbuds one is without the ear-loop and one is with the ear-loop. The Jawbone Icon has several improvements over its predecessors. One of them is spoken voice updates on the caller ID, the battery status and alert as well as the Bluetooth connection. The Jawbone Icon also has its patented noise assess and noise cancellation technology, an active dynamic range voice normalization, which is good for conference call situations. It also boasts improved wind performance. Alias says the Jawbone Icon actually has an operating system in the headset what is called Intelligence on a chip or a very tiny computer in this headset. This allows it to do several cool things. One of them is that it actually has an iPhone battery meter. You can view the Jawbone Icon's battery meter right next to the iPhone's battery icon. Like everything else these days the Jawbone Icon even has an app store or sorts. When you plug the headset into the computer the MyTalk.Jawbone.com site will automatically recognize the headset. You can then customize the headset with either audio apps or dial apps. Audio apps are essentially voice customization and you can choose them from different personalities like the Ace or the Bombshell.
